Ceiling Fans: Reviews And How-To Guides
Ceiling fans come in all shapes and sizes, and they are extremely useful home appliances to stay cool during summer, disburse heat during winter, and to reduce the overall load on HVAC systems.
One of the most important things when installing ceiling fans is to be sure the electrical box is properly rated for the weight of it. Normal light fixture boxes will simply not hold the weight or absorb the vibrations of a standard ceiling fan.
The power or fan speed of ceiling fans is known as CFM or cubic feet per minute. This is an industry measurement of how much air the fan can push in one minute. Typical residential ceiling fans have 1-3k CFMs but industrial ceiling fans can be up to 8-10k. Always check with the manufacturer for their room size recommendations for their ceiling fan as well.
